We were curious to know why there was so much buzz surrounding a gas station. From as far away as Los Angeles, we had heard that this travel center was not to be missed.

Was it because Amarillo boasts 128 gas pumps that people drove out of their way to patronize this gargantuan store? Perhaps. But it could be because its sister service center in New Braunfels won the Cintas award in 2012 for the cleanest bathroom in America. Or due to the Luling location setting a world record as the largest convenience store in the world, at 75,593 square feet. Or maybe because the Katy location, which features the longest car wash in the world, showcases 255 feet of conveyor.

Regardless, we visited Buc-ee’s in Amarillo for its pulled pork sandwiches. We were not disappointed.
