Chef Katherine Clapner is the visionary of the entire Dude, Sweet Chocolate concept, as well as co-founder, co-owner, and Chef of the company itself.

The storefront for Dude, Sweet Chocolate in Bishop Arts beckons to passersby. A quaint, burgundy cottage is shaded by stately trees and hosts a porch where visitors can watch pedestrians pass. Not surprisingly, the store, on the bottom floor of a 125 year-old Victorian, doubles as an AirBnb above.

Inside, a full suite of artisan chocolates, made in small batches, awaits. Katherine Clapner, named a Top 10 Chef in 2012 by Dessert Professional Magazine and with other accolades to her name, specializes in globally inspired creations. One of her best sellers is Fungus Amongus toffee, with porcini mushrooms and roasted pumpkin seeds. We found her Hanoi Fudge, with hints of Vietnamese-style coffee, to be quite addictive.

The store does not offer plain chocolate bars, rather it features unique ingredient combinations that melt in your mouth.

I really like the architecture of the house. Do they make all of the chocolate inside? Or do they have another facility where they do the cooking?
