This place caught our attention because of the people on an otherwise quiet side street. Clearly, there are loyalists who find this coffee destination-worthy. The café, which also sells tea, pastries and sandwiches, claims to be fast, friendly and fun.
Digging a little deeper, we learned that LDU Coffee has six locations around Dallas and ships nationwide. Its proprietors hail from Perth, where they once ran Lowdown Coffee. Incidentally, the owners, who are brothers, share the last name of Lowes. Arriving in Dallas, they noticed the popularity of 3-letter acronyms ending with “U.” Thus, the inspiration for “LDU” was born.
And yes, the coffee is rich, balanced, and worth the trip.
